The two biggest dates in the next six weeks are both outdoors. Wymondham Rugby Club’s fireworks are on Friday 6 November, with tickets on sale now at £12, and Wymondham Abbey’s free Green Halloween is on Saturday 31 October. Between now and then there are two author nights at Kett’s Books, a fashion show in the Abbey, folk music on Church Street and a full October programme at the Corn Hall in Diss.

  • Sea Shanties and Folk Sing-along, Wednesday 30 September, 7pm to 9.30pm, That Little Norfolk Studio, Church Street, NR18 0PH. Free entry, donations welcome. Anto Morra leads, the words go up on a screen and no experience is needed. It runs on the last Wednesday of every month (ClearCompany CIC).
  • Nomadland (12A), Wednesday 30 September, 7pm, The Corn Hall, St Nicholas Street, Diss, IP22 4LB. Adults £9, under-16s £4.50. A Film Club screening of Chloe Zhao’s 2020 film, open to non-members (The Corn Hall).
  • The Horn Factory, big jazz band, Friday 2 October, 7.30pm, The Corn Hall, Diss. £21, all seats, unallocated (The Corn Hall).
  • Common People: Britpop jukebox, Saturday 3 October, 7.30pm to midnight, The Corn Hall, Diss. £15, standing only. A Britpop, indie and 1990s disco, the first the venue has held (The Corn Hall).

  • Dads and Kids Breakfast, Saturday 10 October, 9.30am to 11.30am. Free to book, donations welcome. The Abbey’s monthly stay and play for dads, grandads and male carers, with bacon butties. This month only it is at Baysfield Gardens care home, Eden Way, NR18 9JB, not at the Abbey (Wymondham Abbey).
  • Acoustic music and folk song with Tom Mally and guests, Saturday 10 October, doors 7pm, That Little Norfolk Studio, Church Street. £5 early bird online, £7 on the door. The guests are Retro Firefly, Mounthood, Paul Dewberry and Simon Taylor (ClearCompany CIC).
  • Tits Up, Saturday 10 October, 7.30pm, The Corn Hall, Diss. £24, all seats. A play about three very different women and one fight (The Corn Hall).

The autumn preview from Middletons, Victoria Jane jewellers and Pilson & Green capes, with a welcome drink, canapés and a pay bar (Wymondham Abbey).
  • Monstering the Rocketman, Thursday 15 October, 7.30pm, The Corn Hall, Diss. £18.50, all seats. Henry Naylor’s play, which the venue bills as a 2025 Fringe First winner (The Corn Hall).
  • Oak Folk: James Dixon, Friday 16 October, 8pm, Kett’s Books. £15. Sold out; the shop is taking names for a waiting list at hello@kettsbooks.co.uk (Kett’s Books).
  • The American Classic Rock Show, Friday 16 October, 7.30pm, The Corn Hall, Diss. £25, all seats. Three lead singers and more than two hours of American rock, from the Eagles to Guns N’ Roses (The Corn Hall).
  • Wymondham 1st XV v Wanstead, Saturday 17 October, kick-off 3pm, Wymondham Rugby Club, Barnard Fields, Bray Drive, NR18 0GQ. The club is selling a pre-match hospitality lunch in the Lacons Bar: bar open 11.30am, lunch at 1pm (Wymondham Rugby Football Club).
  • Louis de Bernières at Kett’s Books, Monday 19 October, 7pm, Kett’s Books. Free. The author talks about his new book, Smelling of Rooks. Sold out, with a waiting list by email (Kett’s Books).
  • Craft and Chat Morning, Tuesday 20 October, 10am to 12 noon, the tea room at Wymondham Heritage Museum, 10 The Bridewell, NR18 0NS. £2 a head, which covers a drink and biscuits. It is held on the third Tuesday of each month (Wymondham Heritage Society).
  • Wymondham Heritage Society talk: Norfolk Archaeological Trust, Thursday 22 October, 7.30pm, Fairland Hall, Wymondham. Free to members, £2 for non-members. The speaker is Fran Young, who works on visitor experiences at the trust (Wymondham Heritage Society).
  • Quiz Night at Wymondham Rugby Club, Friday 23 October, Wymondham Rugby Club, Bray Drive. The club has not published a start time or a price; tables are reserved by email at bookings@wymondhamrfc.com (Wymondham Rugby Football Club).
  • Hallow-Bean, Saturday 24 October, 11am, one hour, The Corn Hall, Diss. Adults £8, children £10, family £34. A Halloween show for ages 3 to 10 and their grown-ups (The Corn Hall).
  • Halloween at Bressingham Steam Museum, Saturday 24, Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October, 5.30pm to 9pm, Low Road, Bressingham, IP22 2AA. £10 for all ages, carers £5. A ghost train on the Fen Line, magic shows and marshmallow toasting. The first train runs at 6pm (Bressingham Steam Museum).
  • Midnight launch party for ACOTAR 6, Monday 26 October, doors 11pm, Kett’s Books. £5 for a ticket, £25 for a ticket and the book. Trivia, crafts, drinks and snacks, then the sixth A Court of Thorns and Roses novel goes on sale at the stroke of midnight (Kett’s Books).

  • Nights at the Museum: Bonfire Night Special, Friday 30 October, from 5.30pm, Bressingham Steam Museum. Adults £12, children aged 3 to 15 £6, under-3s free. Rides on the Victorian Gallopers, live music from 6pm, and a bonfire and fireworks at 7.30pm (Bressingham Steam Museum).
  • Fundraising dinner with Dean Richards, Mike Teague and Peter Winterbottom, Friday 30 October, 6pm to 11pm, the Lacons Bar at Wymondham Rugby Club. The bar opens at 6pm and a three-course dinner is served at 7pm, before the three former England players tell their stories (Wymondham Rugby Football Club).
  • Green Halloween, Saturday 31 October, 4.30pm to 6.30pm, Wymondham Abbey. Free, donations welcome, no booking. Wymondham Nature Group leads a hunt for minibeasts in the churchyard from 5pm, there is pumpkin soup and crafts at 5.45pm, and bat detecting after sunset. Children must come with an adult, and bring a torch and wellies (Wymondham Abbey).

November

  • We Love Fireworks 2026, Friday 6 November, 5pm to 11pm, Wymondham Rugby Club, Barnard Fields, Bray Drive, NR18 0GQ. General admission £12, under-4s free, VIP £25 with only 200 on sale. Parking on site is £8 a car and must be booked in advance (Wymondham Rugby Football Club).
  • Wymondham Remembrance Sunday parade and service, Sunday 8 November. The parade meets at the Market Cross at 2pm and marches off at 2.30pm towards the war memorial, led by the Norwich Pipe Band. The service is in Wymondham Abbey at 3pm (Royal British Legion, Wymondham branch).
  • Diss Remembrance parade and service, Sunday 8 November. The parade goes along Mere Street, wreaths are laid on the Market Place and the service follows at St Mary’s Church. Diss Town Council has still not published the times (Diss Town Council).

Wymondham Heritage Museum closes for the winter at 4pm on Sunday 8 November, the last day of its 2026 season (Wymondham Heritage Museum). Our pages on the fireworks and Remembrance Sunday have the parking, the road closures and what is still to be confirmed.

Further ahead, the Christmas lights switch-on is on Thursday 26 November and Wynterfest is on Sunday 6 December. Both have their own pages, as do the Diss switch-on, the Diss pantomime, Christmas at Bressingham and Santa’s grottos.

  • Wymondham Friday Market, every Friday, 9am to 2.30pm, Market Place, NR18 0AX. The charter market beside the Market Cross. A Country Market runs in the library on the same day, 10.30am to 12.30pm (Visit Wymondham, Wymondham Town Council).
  • Wymondham Farmers’ Market, third Saturday of the month, 9am to 1pm, Market Place. The next is Saturday 17 October (Visit Wymondham, Wymondham Town Council).
  • Monday Happy Hour, every Monday, 12.30pm to 1.30pm, Wymondham Abbey. Free mocktails, bring your own lunch, everyone welcome. The next is Monday 5 October (Wymondham Abbey).
  • Youth Cafe, every Friday, 2.30pm to 5pm, That Little Norfolk Studio, Church Street. Free. A drop-in for 11 to 16 year olds with pool, retro arcade games, darts and karaoke. Listed weekly to 27 November (ClearCompany CIC).
  • Room to Write, Fridays in term time, 10am to 11am, Kett’s Books. £3 a session, eight places a week, booked ahead. A quiet hour to work on your own writing, with tea and coffee (Kett’s Books).
  • Harleston Magpies parkrun, every Saturday, 9am, Harleston Magpies Hockey Club, Shotford Heath, Weybread, IP21 5UF. Free, but register first. This is the only parkrun in our patch, and the course is just over the Waveney from Harleston. Wymondham has none of its own (parkrun).

Getting there

Kett’s Books and the Friday market are on the Market Place, and the Abbey and That Little Norfolk Studio are both on Church Street. Our parking page has the four town car parks and their charges. Parking at the rugby club’s fireworks has to be booked in advance. Check the roadworks and travel page before an evening trip.
