92 more Hethersett North homes approved, a Yelverton solar farm passed and a 25m mast cleared at Tuttles Lane: South Norfolk's planning week to 2 October.
South Norfolk Council approved the detailed design of 92 more homes at Hethersett North in the week to 2 October. Its planning committee also passed a 15MW solar farm at Yelverton.
None of the 37 decisions the council listed that week was a refusal. A further 59 applications were validated. Both figures come from the council’s two weekly planning lists, published on its website. These are the latest lists available as at 10 October.
The decisions that matter
92 homes at Hethersett North, about three miles north-east of Wymondham. Application 2026/0308 covers Phase B4 of Hethersett North, on land north of the village centre off Little Melton Road. It settles the roads, layout, landscaping, scale, appearance and materials for 92 homes. Outline permission for the wider site, 2021/0758/O, was granted on 24 November 2025. Five self-build plots on the phase stay in outline, so their design will come back in a later application. Planning officers approved it with conditions on 29 September, under delegated powers rather than at committee.
A 25-metre mast at Tuttles Lane East, Wymondham. The phone mast behind Grove Farm will grow from a 15m column to a 25m monopole. It will carry six antennas, plus three relocated antennas and a relocated 300mm dish (application 2026/2483). Masts like this go through a prior approval check rather than a full planning application. On 2 October the council decided its prior approval was not required, which means the upgrade can go ahead without further consent on siting or appearance.
A 15MW solar farm at Yelverton, about 13 miles east. The Development Management Committee approved application 2025/1442 on 30 September, for land east of Back Road. The scheme includes:
- solar panels on metal frames
- a central inverter housing and a spares container
- new access tracks and underground cabling
- perimeter fencing with CCTV cameras
- temporary construction compounds and landscaping
A new cemetery at Welborne, about five miles north-west. Grass pasture south of All Saints Church, Church Lane, can become a cemetery (2025/2324). It was approved with conditions on 2 October.
A self-build home at Colton, refused before, now approved. The committee approved a self-build house and garage at High House Farm (2025/2699) on 30 September. The application was a resubmission after an earlier refusal, 2024/3522.

- Loddon, about 16 miles east: a portacabin for police use at Loddon Fire Station on High Street, with security works for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service (2026/2805).

What it means for you
- Want to comment on a new application? Search its number on the council’s planning portal. Comments are normally open for 21 days from validation, and the closing date is on each application’s dates tab.
- The Hethersett design is now settled. Layout and appearance are approved for the 92 homes. The five self-build plots will need their own application, which will be open for comment.
- The Tuttles Lane mast needs no further consent. If you live nearby, the next thing you will see is the work itself.
